Brian Kovach

A Letter to My Mother 2 | 16″ x 20″ | Archival print | 2017

Artist Statement

Since 2017 Brian has been exploring his queerness through the lens of photography. Growing up in the Midwest made it hard for him to connect with other people in the community so he started his first project photographing gay men. Since then Brian has graduated with his Masters of Fine Art from Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work deals with the many intersections of queer culture and how they connect with his life. Topics of his work include, Sex, Masculinity, and Identity. Queerness is not the same for everyone, it is many things, and that is what makes it so special.
