Artist Statement

I’ve been taking photographs for over 25 years. My resume includes most of the LGBTQ+ media outlets in Southwest Detroit. (Cruise, Outpost, Flame, Between the Lines…)
My photography interests are broad, including both candid and formal portraits, events, architecture, city-life, and nature (plants are the best models because they don’t complain.)  I do return to candid portraits often, as seen in the works selected for this exhibition. With my portrait subjects I love noticing the unique and the common, often finding similarities between all people. If I can help a person see how beautiful they are, give them a smile, then I’ve done my job.
