Henry Petrucci

Lady of the Animals | Bronze | 1990

Artist Statement

We carry within us our deepest memories of life’s protean procession from amoebic slime to our aboriginal future. Cell, flower, fish, reptile, bird , mammal, godhead, and beyond. When we recognize ourselves in all forms of consciousness, from cellular organization to divine intelligence, we have opened the gates of awakening, and approached the throne of power. We hold, also, the knowledge of our earliest symbols … compelling distant images of a primordial creatrix, a fertile cosmic womb pulsing with the rhythm of the birth and death of a simple and evolving humanity.
