Artist Statement

I often wonder what we hear or why we don’t hear. What happens when you feel unheard for too long? Where do those feelings go? In my work I attempt to create a sculptural experience that explores how these feelings from our past present themselves in our bodies. I fuse modern body theory with that of reliquary art through the formation of surreal figurative sculptures. By investigating the conceptual discourse around reliquaries as well as the somatic manifestations of memory, I memorialize my own presence through methodical making in clay and explore the idea of finding where the feelings from our past present themselves.
